Plants produce beneficial compounds called phytochemicals. Extracts are the result of removing those phytochemicals from the raw plant that produced them.

One of the main benefits of using extracts is that once they are removed from the plant material, the phytochemicals are more readily absorbed due to the fact that they bypass the need for digestion.

Extracts contain concentrated amounts of phytochemicals meaning that you’ll need to consume a lot less of the extract than you would the whole plant to get the same benefits.
